I'm Late! I'm Late!

Oh my goodness how I miss blogging!! I feel like its been a million years.
It has been busy around here and when I have down time all I find myself doing is reading my book (Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult) or working on the wedding list with addresses and who may or may not come and how many guests and blah blah blah!
It is all very time comsuming.

In other news, I am on my way to the doctor right now to possibly have my anxiety meds changed to a higher dosage. I don't know if it is just because of the higher rate of stress I am feeling I am under or what but I feel like the medication isnt working as fabulously as it used to.
Also, ever heard of runner's knee???
It is PAINFUL! After running the 8k I started feeling some super sharp pains in my right knee after sitting for an extended period of time and when going down stairs. So I am going to go get the checked out before it worsens.

For exciting news...we picked out cabinets and countertops!!! Woo freakin Hoo! More on that later :)

OK we gotsta go to the doc and then off to Annabelle's music class.
Ya'll have a great day!

be expecting an entry on the progress of the house very very soon!

Schedule Schmedule!!

Annabelle cut two more teeth last week, making that a grand total of 5 teeth she has now.

So her sleep patterns have been anything but patterns. She sometimes sleeps from 8:30-7:30 waking up twice through the night needing a bottle (we got her off feeding through the night when she was 5 months old, so it is very frustrating) 730p.m.-6a.m. or some nights it's 11p.m.-9:30-a.m. <<<that was a gift from God himself!! I have never slept that late with her EVER. It was a glorious morning! But of course I paid for that sleeping in by staying up extra late that night.
On top of it all she now has a cold too, so we put a pillow under her head so she can breathe better and it has helped tremendously. She is sleeping through the night again! with no feedings!! yay!

So I have decided to try to only allow her one nap thru the day...her usual schedule before the cold and teething that has been working for us for 4 months now was as follows;

7:30a.m. wake up, eat 8o.z. bottle
9:30a.m. eat solid food, fruit or veggie
10:30 or 11 a.m. nap 1-2 hours, 8o.z. bottle
1:00p.m.-1:30p.m. eat solid food, veggie
3:30-4:00p.m. 8oz bottle, 1 hour nap
6:30 solid food veggie and fruit
7:30p.m. bath
8:00p.m. 8 oz bottle
8:30 rock to sleep

We go through these motions lately and while rocking her to sleep she keeps her head down but is talking, laughing, playing with mommas hair, or daddy's sweatshirt strings, basically doing anything but closing her eyes and going to sleep. I think we are allowing her too many naps. I think, but literally might be pulling this out of thin air, that she should be moved to one nap per day.

So my question is, at what age do you move them from multiple naps to only one?

Tuesdays we have swim class and she plays so hard that she falls asleep in the car and then that toally messes up nap time for the rest of the day, because she still wants to take two naps but they get later then they should be and then she stays up late and it ruins the rest of the week.

So today is trial 1 for one nap a day! I will let ya'll know how it goes but if anyone has an suggestions about how to morph nap schedules let me know!!!

And now I'll give you guys the good stuff...pictures of our booboo
{dayday reading to her (have I mentioned that she calls him dayday instead of dada...cutest thing ever)}

Demo begins!!!

So we closed on the house on a Wednesday,
Adam went over that night and tore down a wooden shelving unit/storage closet that night,
had a brace put in where a wall was bowed on that thursday,
and Friday the basement guy finished up with some drain tile.

Talk about hittin the ground running on this renovation thing!

From that point on Adam and his dad have basically been there everday after work, and sometimes during work hours measuring rooms, figuring out what they need to do what, and then putting their plans into action.

So this was the kitchen before demo...

 {bye, bye metal cabinets!}
{bye, bye walls!}
 {gutted!}
 {the two different wall papers that were on the walls}
 {first wall down!}
 {really opened up the space!!}

{both walls down!!!}
The next thing happening is the far wall, (the one that the ladder is leaning on) will come down and be rebuilt out three feet from where it exists now.

So a huge shout out to  Uncle Mark and Aunt Kathy, they drove all the way from Plymouth to help kick off this renovation! Uncle Mark had a great time with the guys tearing down walls, ya know doin the fun dirty job that is demo! And Aunt Kathy was soooo helpful! We have a ginormous tree in the back yard that lost all of its leaves and covered our entire backyard in a think blanket of leaves and she hauled all of those leaves to the street with Adam's mom. It was so sweet of them to rive up just for the weekend to get their hands dirty!! Thank you!!!!

Also Uncle Kevin was visiting from NYC and he brought his strength in to tear out the cabinets and coutertops!!

Strength in numbers when it comes to demo!!!

It's all really really happening! I feel like Adam and I and his parents have been talking about it for so long that it would never actually be happening! Kind of like how I felt about being pregnant so unexpectedly, like yes this is happening to me but I am so overly excited for the outcome that I feel it will never be here! But guess what, I had a baby and we are renovating a kitchen!!

Jeez, life can be so surprising!!

I am so lucky to have Adam and his family, especially his parents. They are just as excited to do all of this as we are! Plus they have already done it once with an old victorian house downtown, and built their own house when Adam was 3 months old, so the experience will help tremendously!!

Here we go!

we bought a time machine...

Yes, it's true.
A time machine, to 1953. And our sole job now as homeowners is to bring this humble abode back to the future.

So this post is going to be a buttload-a-pictures but I want all of my TX, NV, and CA family and friends to get the real feel of this home without having the chance to walk through it and see the project before we reveal the after!

So with a little drumroll of your own if you please....

 {the house from the street}

three bedroom
1 bath (partial bath in basement also)
1400 square feet

{our street!! this is basically what sold me on the house. Adam drove me down the street when he heard about this house being on the market and I told him,"we need to live here! I love love love this street!!!"}
 {the backyard from the car port}
 {back of the house from the far side of the yard}
 {front porch and flower bed to the right}
 {front kitchen window over the flower bed}
 {gotta love that vintage door!! It is staying but will be changing its color...suggestions please :)}

 {view looking left after entering front door, hallway to bathroom and bedrooms}
 {this is the "wall" that separates the hall from the living room, it is solid glass and about an inch and a half thick..its hittin the road!! Don't get me wrong I totally appreciate the solidity and retroness of it...it's just not really working for my feng shui}
 {another angle of the glass wall and an peek at the living room. The fireplace is working and we are eager to find out if the brick goes all the way up the wall but have decided to live with the paneling for a while. I got some great ideas from http://www.younghouselove.com/2009/08/how-to-paint-wood-paneling/, so we won't find out about the brick for a while}

 {the dining room, left of the living room, this wall and one of the walls in the living room form an L shaped wall for the kitchen...they are both coming down!!}

{the walls I were talking about...that's them in the left hand picture...and the right hand picture...those are metal baby blue cabinets folks. THEY'RE ALL DONZO!}
 {The window that looks out onto our front yard }

 {Door to the left is the master bedroom, striaght ahead goes into office, and hallway to the right goes to Belly's room. And yes, that is a laundry shoot.}

 {the bathroom...personally we love the floors...everything else has to go!but not right away...this is one renovation that we will wait to do until later, because we can still use everything...so instead of gutting it and redoing it we will be getting a new toilet, painting and having the sink and tub stained white. The hardware on the vanity will be updated and I will unwillingly have to live with the mismatched grey tile. Let me expand on that for you...

{...(back to the tile) see left hand photo...the dividing wall in the bathroom separates the tub/shower from the toilet and sink. the shower area conntects to the master bedroom. The tile in the first part of the bathroom is all really cool clean grey oldschool tiles...then in the shower area it turns into this misted grey with white edge crap...and then the shower is tiled with smaller lighter grey tiles. AWKWARD. But still livable. All of it is in great condition so we will hang tight}

{View of bathroom from our bedroom}

 {view of our room from the hall.}
 {view from our front window in our bedroom of the front yard and street}
 {Our closets}

 {the office/guestroom. There is so much great light in this room!!}

{Belly's room...obviously used to be a boys room...blue everything and the light switch is a gold plated eagle u.s. army frame.}
 {heading downstairs to the basement from the kitchen}

{this will eventually be the playroom area/den}
{that's the laundry area and half bath that is in the basement}

}the rest of the basement is unfinished but we have big plans for years to come for it. Hopefully Adam's office can eventually be down there with a half bath..which is half way there...they got a toilet but never a sink! Maybe an extra bedroom. But for now laundry room, work bench and storage will do! Did I mention that our basement is equal to the upstairs in space...yeah folks thats just about 1400 square feet of basement!! We will for sure make use of it!}
 {belly playing in the front yard while daddy and grandpa work on the chimney}

So now that you have seen what we are the proud new owners of you can pick your jaw off the floor and say it...go ahead I know you're thinking it..."holy crap that's alotta work!".
We are so so so eager to get this project started!!
I will keep you updated with our progress!!! Stay tuned ya'll things are about to get messy!! :):):):):):)
